13 NEW YEAR’S QUESTIONS

In my first blogs of 2023, I wanted to say THANK YOU to all of you, my subscribers. Most all of you not only subscribe but also open and read my blogs. I will continue to do my best to find progressive and pertinent research, partake in continued education, and give my clients and subscribers the very best.

I’d like to share with you 12 questions designed to get you thinking about what nourishes you, what drains your energy, what's holding you back, and where you ultimately hope to end up in life. Remember, change takes longer than we expect and we do have the control to make different choices if we want to make changes. Start small and as start today.

  1. IF THE OBSTACLE OF MONEY WAS REMOVED, HOW WOULD MY LIFE LOOK DIFFERENT?

  2. WHAT PRODUCTIVE ACTIVITIES DO I SPEND TIME DOING FOR NO OTHER REASON THAN THEY MAKE ME HAPPY? (BILL GATES HAS RECOMMENDED ASKING YOURSELF A VERSION OF THIS QUESTION AS WELL.)

  3. WHAT TRAITS AND VALUES DO THE PEOPLE I MOST ADMIRE HAVE IN COMMON?

  4. HOW MUCH MONEY DO I REALLY NEED TO BE HAPPY? (THERE ARE PLENTY OF EXERCISES AND EXPERTS TO HELP YOU ZOOM IN ON A NUMBER.)

  5. HOW WOULD I MOST LIKE SOMEONE TO DESCRIBE ME?

  6. WHAT THINGS DO I DO ONLY BECAUSE IT MAKES OTHER PEOPLE VALIDATE ME?

  7. WHAT DO I MOST LOOK FORWARD TO EACH DAY?

  8. WHEN WAS THE LAST TIME I FELT A BIG RUSH OF SATISFACTION?

  9. WHAT DID I LIKE DOING WHEN I WAS YOUNGER THAT I'VE LOST TOUCH WITH? (RECONNECTING WITH THESE IS A GREAT WAY TO FIGHT BACK AGAINST EXHAUSTION AND IMPENDING BURNOUT, ACCORDING TO EXPERTS.)

  10. WHICH HABIT DO I MOST WISH I COULD WORK ON GETTING RID OF THIS YEAR?

  11. WHAT DO I WANT TO BE REMEMBERED FOR?

  12. WHAT WOULD I BE MOST SAD TO HAVE NEVER TRIED? (THIS REMINDS ME OF JEFF BEZOS'S FAMOUS REGRET MINIMIZATION FRAMEWORK.)

After pondering these questions, and being real with yourself to come up with some answers, you’re a few steps down the path to start making changes to become a new you for the new year.

13. WHAT VALUABLE LESSONS HAVE I LEARNED THIS YEAR AND WHAT CHANGES WILL I CONTINUE TO INTENTIONALLY MAKE IN ORDER TO SHOW I HAVE LEARNED THIS/THESE VALUABLE LESSONS?

Example 1:

1. In the future, I do not want to waste money on things I don’t want or need to impress the neighbors.

2. I will avoid repeating this because it makes me feel so ashamed afterward. When I spend money on pointless things, it puts more pressure on my family and me. Sometimes it means we can’t pay our bills on time. It’s not fair to them, and it’s irresponsible of me to keep spending money on things we don’t need.

3. This is the lesson this experience taught me: I have learned that I must budget and stick to it as much as possible. I know that when I put my mind to it, I can do it. As a family, our money goes much further when I plan ahead and work out a spending plan. I have also learned that I do not need to impress my neighbors - my family’s happiness is more important.

Example 2:

1. In the future, I do not want to say ‘yes’ to something that I know I won’t be able to do.

2. I will avoid repeating this because I hated how it felt to disappoint my loved ones. I said I would help when I knew I didn’t have time to do so. They depended on me, I let them down, and they were annoyed with me, and I felt guilty because of it.

3. This is the lesson this experience taught me: It is better to say ‘no’ to something that I know I won’t be able to do. I have to learn to be honest with others, even when I want to help out. If I stop saying ‘yes’ to every little thing, I don’t have to break promises that I have made, and I don’t feel so guilty when I don’t have time to help.

*In order to stay intelligent, sharp, and mentally agile, research shows to be mindful of choices pertaining to diet, exercise, and lifestyle.

***Whomever you will be someday is the result of what you do today -- and every day.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! MAY 2023 BE HAPPY, HEALTHY, AND PROSPEROUS!
